When RealTheory is already installed in a cluster, you can make the cluster automation-ready by generating the RealTheory Collector deployment YAML again, with automation-ready turned on, and applying the YAML to the same cluster.
Automation is opt-in. Automation is disabled by default and enabled by you. When you enable automation, RealTheory can make configuration changes within the scope and parameters of your automation profiles, including any default values that you have not changed. See Automation Opt-In Requirements Explained.
Background
An automation-ready cluster is a cluster in which the RealTheory Collector has permission to change workloads. Making a cluster automation-ready is one of the requirements for automation. See Automation Opt-In Requirements Explained for the others.
When you apply the YAML to a cluster that RealTheory already monitors, the YAML replaces the cluster's current Collector configuration. Every setting in the new YAML applies, so generate the YAML with the same values that you used when you installed RealTheory, and with automation-ready turned on.
Solution
Prerequisites
Procedure
-
Locate the original Collector deployment YAML for the cluster. If you do not have the original YAML, you can find some of the original values, such as the cluster name and labels, on the cluster's INFO tab.
Note: The INFO tab does not show settings such as the architecture, vCPU count, proxy, and API groups.
-
Follow the steps in Installing RealTheory in a Cluster with the same values, turn on Make this cluster automation-ready before you generate the YAML, and apply the YAML to the same cluster.
