Discount rate cards allow you to specify a discount on the on-demand pricing plan for the appropriate integrated cloud provider. You can specify a single discount rate or itemized discount rates for components of the Kubernetes infrastructure such as nodes, storage, networking, load balancers, etc. to best reflect your effective cost.
See Rate Cards Explained for more information about rate cards.
Prerequisite
To manage rate cards, you must have one of the following roles assigned to your user account:
- sys_admin
- rate_card_admin
Procedure
-
As a user with either the sys_admin or rate_card_admin role, navigate to Settings > Cost > Rate Cards.
-
Click Create New.
-
Select Discount Rate Card.
-
Click Next.
-
Provide a unique name for the new rate card.
-
Add a description that will help you remember the purpose and scope of the new rate card.
-
If your effective pricing plan can be reflected in a single discount rate on pay-as-you-go pricing, select All Kubernetes infrastructure and enter the discount rate.
-
If your effective pricing plan is best reflected in custom discount rates on pay-as-you-go pricing for components of the Kubernetes infrastructure, select Selected Kubernetes infrastructure and enter the discount rate for each component.
Note: If you do not want to specify a discount for a particular component, click the component toggle control to disable that option.
-
After you have provided all the discount rates you want used for cost analysis, do one of the following:
- If you are directly assigning the new rate card to the appropriate clusters, click Save and Assign. Go to Step 10.
- If you are using rate card policies to assign rate cards to the appropriate clusters, click Save and then go to Settings > Cost > Rate Card Policies to verify that you have a rate card policy that applies this rate card to the appropriate cluster(s).
-
In the Assign rate card to clusters view, select the clusters that should use the new rate card.
-
Click Update.
The new rate card will be assigned to the selected clusters. As cost data is collected, it will be made available in the Cost perspective of the Visualization views.
