Managing RealTheory Synthetic Labels

Prev Next

You add, edit, delete, clear, and evaluate RealTheory synthetic labels from the INFO tab of an object in the RealTheory Console. To understand how synthetic labels differ from other labels and how propagation works, see RealTheory Synthetic Labels Explained.

Procedure

  1. Open the INFO tab for the object you want to add a synthetic label to.
  2. In the Labels section, locate the RealTheory synthetic header.
  3. Do one of the following:
To Do this Then
Add labels Click + Add label. In the Labels field, enter a label in key=value format, then press the spacebar or Enter. Repeat for each label you want to add. Go to step 4.
Edit a label Click the label's kebab menu (⋮), then click Edit. Change the key, the value, or both. If you change the key, choose what happens to the original label. Go to step 4.
Delete a label Click the x on the label, or click the label's kebab menu (⋮), then click Delete. Go to step 4.
Evaluate a label Click the label. The Labeled Resources modal lists objects of the same type that have the label; for example, clicking a label on a Pod lists the other Pods with that label. You're done.
Clear all labels Click the kebab menu (⋮) next to the RealTheory synthetic header, then click Clear all. Go to step 4.

Note: The Console checks your entries as you type and explains any issues, such as an invalid label or a duplicate key.

  1. Under Apply to (Delete from or Clear from when deleting or clearing), choose where the change applies:
    • To include the current object, select Current object (default). Clear it to change only subordinate objects.
    • To include subordinate objects, select Propagate to subordinate objects (Delete from subordinate objects or Clear from subordinate objects when deleting or clearing). Then select All subordinate objects, or select A subset of subordinate objects and then select each object type the change should apply to.
Note: The subordinate objects option is not shown for Pods, because Pods have no subordinate objects.
  2. Click Apply (adding or editing), Delete, or Clear all.
The labels under the RealTheory synthetic header update to reflect your change, sorted alphabetically by key. Changes to subordinate objects can take longer, depending on how many objects are affected.
Note: Deleting or clearing labels can't be undone; to restore a label, add it again.
