How To Troubleshoot Installation Issues
Background
The RealTheory Collector must be installed on each cluster to monitor and optimize your Kubernetes resources. As soon as the Collector is installed and running on a cluster it streams cluster telemetric data to your RealTheory account. If any issues are encountered during the installation, the Collector cannot stream the cluster telemetric data and the cluster will not show up in the RealTheory Console.
Solution
There are certain prerequisites that must be met before the Collector can be successfully installed and there are other situations that can prevent a cluster from displaying in the RealTheory Console. If you have applied the Collector to a cluster but you are not seeing data from the expected cluster display in the Console, use the following checklist to verify that your environment is configured correctly.
Collector Installation Checklist
Task | Verify that… | Verified |
---|---|---|
1 | The cluster is running a supported version of Kubernetes | 𝥁 |
2 | The Metrics Server is installed in the cluster | 𝥁 |
3 | You have the appropriate RBAC permissions | 𝥁 |
4 | If your cluster uses a proxy server for outbound traffic, you have configured the proxy settings correctly | 𝥁 |
5 | Discretionary access control gives you access to the appropriate cluster(s) | 𝥁 |
